SEO & Content Marketing for Rapid Traffic Growth - Masterclass

Want to know how I managed to increase traffic to my website by 10,000 views in just one month?

SEO and content marketing!

But you can’t throw up any type of content and think it will succeed. There is a specific way to use SEO and content marketing to increase traffic and start to see the results you’ve been looking for.

I used this framework to increase my views by 20% and I did it with four pages of content.

Ready to talk about it?

What is SEO & Content Marketing?

SEO and content marketing are key to increasing your visibility online.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. You can take certain steps to optimize your page. In doing so, you can give it a better chance of being indexed correctly by search engines. If it is indexed correctly, your site will rank higher! It will show up in more keyword searches done by users of Google, Duck Duck Go, and other search engine sites.

Content marketing is a marketing strategy that involves creating and sharing relevant and valuable content. The intent here is to attract and retain your preferred clientele.

You have the best chance of seeing rapid success when you combine the two.

How to Use SEO & Content Marketing

I have designed a 5-step framework that, when followed correctly, will scale your traffic by up to 20% week over week.

Here’s what to do.

Step 1: Do Your Keyword Research

The first step to my successful process is to do your keyword research. There is no point in creating content if people aren’t searching for it.

The first thing you’ll need to do is to determine your keyword. There are a variety of online tools, such as SEMRush, to determine what types of keywords your preferred audience is searching for. Take time to evaluate which of those keywords relate to your business.

Once you have narrowed down your keyword list, you’ll want to look for the ones with a search volume of over 2,000. This will increase the number of people who are looking for what you’re selling.

Be sure that these keywords align with your business goals. This way your chosen keyword will bring you the traffic that is looking for what you are selling.

Step 2: Do a Google Search with Your Selected Keyword(s)

Once you’ve selected your keywords, do a Google search to see what types of content Google is prioritizing for that keyword.

Review the content on the first page of your search results. What do the results have in common?

Do the results contain news headlines, articles, how-to pages, definitions, or lists?

What comes up in your Google search will help you know how you should build out your content marketing strategy.

For example, if you are using the keyword “top motorcycle helmets, take a look at these results:

Search Engine Results for Keywords
Search Engine Results for Keywords
Search Engine Results for Keywords
Search Engine Results for Keywords

Almost all the top search results are in list form. This shows you that, for this keyword, Google seems to be prioritizing content arranged in a list.

If you want to compete with the existing content, you’ll want to make it onto this first page of search results.

Pro-Tip: Strongly consider arranging your content in a list form.

Step 3: Review Important SEO Elements of Your Page

What you find in your Google search results will also reveal how you should prepare various elements of your page for optimization.

First, take a look at the length of the content results that are high-ranking. Drop their copy into a tool such as WordCounter.net to determine their word count range.

Do they seem to have a similar word count? If they seem to be within the 3,000-3,500 word range, aim to keep your content within the same range.

Next, look at their schema. Schema is the words or tags within a website that shows how the web developer wants Google to view their site.

You can use tools such as SEMRush, Google’s Structured Data Testing Tool, or Schema.org to determine the schema of the websites you are looking to model. Be sure to add certain identifying aspects of their schema to your own site. Clear up any technical SEO issues that your site may be experiencing.

Then take a look at the Search Engine Results Page (SERP) features. This includes things like Shopping, Rich Result List, Video, Popular Products, Local Pack, and Images. Take note of the kinds of content that is showing up on those other SERP features.

The SERP page also includes something called “People Also Ask” and “Related Searches”.

People Also Ask
People Also Ask
Related Searches
Related Searches

These sections of the SERP page will give you a great insight into what type of content Google users are also interested in when searching for your selected keyword.

Once you have this information, you can answer some of these questions within your copy.

If you address all elements that Google is looking for within the copy on your page, you’re giving your page a better chance at grabbing Google’s attention and ranking higher on the first SERP. This will improve the chances that your preferred audience will also take notice of your page.

Step 4: Fill in a Writing Template that Uses What You’ve Learned About SEO & Content Marketing

Now that you have all the necessary information, you are ready to sit down and fill out the writing template for you or your writer to follow.

This template will work for every industry if you followed all the above steps.

When it comes to keywords:

  1. Select the best 3 to 5 terms.
  2. Use the top term at least 4 times within your copy.
  3. Use secondary terms 1 to 2 times.
  4. Use one term every 150 words.
  5. Use in the content title, description, H1, H2 (every third), image file name, image alt text, and image caption.

If you are writing a piece of content on the best motorcycle helmet, your final outline for the writer should look something like this:
