Complete Serpstat Review – Should You Use It?

Looking for an affordable growth-hacking tool that can handle just about anything related to digital marketing? If so, then check out Serpstat.

In this review, I’ll look at why people are flocking to Serpstat. I’ll also cover its pros and cons.

Complete Serpstat Review As with many other solutions I’ve reviewed in this space, Serpstat isn’t just a single tool. It’s a Swiss Army knife of tools. You can use it to check keyword rankings, analyze backlinks, audit your website, research competitors, and identify popular search terms related to your niche. According to the company website, Serpstat is the most upvoted tool on Product Hunt and the #1 best-selling tool of all time on AppSumo.

Keyword Research

Keyword research is an important part of search engine optimization (SEO). Fortunately, Serpstat makes it easy to find keywords that will resonate with your target audience. For starters, it shows you search terms that your competitors are using to steal market share. You can copy their strategies to win some of that market share back. Serpstat also highlights performance indicators for various keywords, including search volume, cost per click, and competitiveness. Are you looking for keyword variations? If so, the tool will show you suggestions so that you can expand your reach. You might even find a few keywords your competitors aren’t using. Serpstat even identifies long tail keywords. Those are search terms that include four or more words. You aren’t limited to U.S. data, either. The tool identifies region-specific keywords from all over the world. Additionally, Serpstat shows you which of your pages are the most relevant to specific search terms. Use that kind of info to capitalize on what works. The tool also identifies keyword trends. That gives you some insight into where the market is headed in terms of search. Finally, Serpstat shows search results for a keyword along with the number of Facebook shares and the potential traffic score for each page.

Serpstat Review: Search Analytics

Serpstat also includes a search analytics tool that will give you plenty of insight into your competitors. First, the tool identifies your key competitors and displays them in a graph. Then, you have the opportunity to view market intelligence for each one. Use Serpstat to investigate visibility changes and traffic drops for competitors. That info helps you determine if your campaigns are helping you capture additional market share. The tool also shows you the most popular and trending pages for any competing domain. Additionally, Serpstat emails you updates about domains that you’re tracking so you don’t have to take time out of your busy schedule to check reports every day. The search analytics feature also shows you how well your site is ranking for content, news, images, video, and more.

Advertising Analysis

Maybe your competitors rely on PPC as well as organic search to gain market share. If that’s the case, you’ll want to know what they’re up to. Serpstat shows you how other businesses in your industry are using Google Ads. It highlights the keywords they’re using, where their ads appear in search results, and the cost per click (CPC) of each ad. Advertising analysis also identifies a competitor’s best-performing keywords. Once again: imitate their successes and reap the rewards.

Serpstat Review: Content Marketing Ideation

One of the best ways to rank for a keyword is to create unique, quality content relevant to that keyword and post it in a blog on your website. Easier said than done. Serpstat offers a search suggestions database that helps you create original content. It identifies questions that people in your target market are asking and finds search terms related to keywords you already rank for. The tool also tracks your social shares. Additionally, Serpstat provides traffic estimates for pages on your website. Use that info to determine which posts you should promote with paid search and which ones need more attention.

Rank Tracking

Serpstat enables you to track your rankings every day. The tool shows you where your website ranks in Google for the various keywords related to your niche. Look for Bing and Yahoo results in a future release. Region-specific results aren’t a problem, though. Unlike some other tools, Serpstat shows you results on a daily basis. You won’t have to wait for several days to find out if your rank changed for a keyword. Additionally, the tool tracks competition dynamics for groups of phrases. Use that feature to define a category of competitors and see how well your site performs against the competition.

Serpstat Review: On-Page Audit

Like many other comprehensive services offered today, Serpstat includes an on-site SEO audit tool. It crawls all over your site, identifies SEO issues, and produces a report with actionable insights. The on-page audit will catch basic flaws such as missing meta tags, title length issues, incorrect H1 tags, duplicate content, and more. Serpstat also verifies your links and checks for missing pages. On the configuration side, the tool will inform you if there are any problems with sitemaps or your robots.txt file.

User Interface

Serpstat offers an easy-to-navigate user interface as well as in-depth reports. The dashboard enables you to view all the important info about your projects in a single glance. Serpstat also uses diagrams and charts so that you can quickly gain insight into your SEO health and how well your site stacks up against the competition. Advanced plans also offer white label reports so that you can brand reports that you share with clients or team members.

Serpstat Review: Backlink Analysis

Would you like to see which domains are linking to your website, what anchor texts they’re using, and how much page rank you can expect to receive from them? Serpstat has a tool for that. The backlink analysis tool will show you not only which sites are linking to your own, but also which sites are linking to competing domains. Use that info to find guest-post opportunities. You can do much more than that with competitor analysis, though. The tool will show you when a competitor’s backlink profile changed. That gives you further insight into the competitor’s digital strategy. Serpstat also shows you the quality scores of each domain. It’s the same kind of score you would expect to see in a tool like Ahrefs or Majestic. The higher the score, the more page rank you should receive from the linking site. Also, use the backlink analysis tool to find the pages on your site that attract the most backlinks. Produce more of that type of content so you can get even more links.

API

If you’d like to develop custom apps with data provided by Serpstat, you can use its API. Unlike other tools, Serpstat lets you access the API with a lower level of service. In other words, you won’t have to spend hundreds of dollars per month just to get details about keywords in JSON format. The API offers access to daily rankings, position-tracking, competitor analysis, and keyword research data.

Serpstat Review: Pricing

Serpstat offers four levels of service, unimaginatively named Plan A, Plan B, Plan C, and Plan D. Each of the plans is progressively more expensive and offers a more comprehensive level of service. The cheapest plan (Plan A) is offered at just $19 per month. For that, you get 300 queries per day and 200 tracked keywords. The most expensive plan (Plan D) is offered at $299 per month. For that, you get 8,000 queries per day and 5,000 tracked keywords. Plan B is the lowest level of service that will get you API access. That costs $69 per month. It’s best to consult the plan comparison page for specific details.

Pros & Cons

Plenty of Serpstat users have shared their experiences online. Here’s what some of them are saying. First, the good:
  • Comprehensive, all-in-one solution
  • Regularly updates data
  • Easy to use
  • Training is awesome
  • Excellent support
  • Finds new keywords
Now, the bad:
  • Keyword difficulty rating and domain authority ranking isn’t the most accurate
  • Identifies major backlinks, but not all of them
  • Doesn’t locate all Google Ads
  • Doesn’t support display or video ads
  • Not a lot of data on low-traffic searches

Wrapping Up This Serpstat Review

If you’re on a tight budget and looking for a digital marketing tool, Serpstat should definitely make your short list. Sure, there are more robust solutions on the market, but you’ll pay for them. Ahrefs, for example, starts at $99 per month. Serpstat is an especially great option if you’re looking for API access. It only costs $69 per month whereas other sites charge hundreds of dollars per month for the same kind of data. If you’re not sure about the tool, you can always try it for free with limited access. If you like what you see, start small with Plan A and work your way up later.
