27 Tools I Mention in My Book that You Should Use

Hootsuite

Hootsuite is a great tool for managing your activities on these social media platforms and monitoring mentions of you and your brand across most of them like Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn (more than 35 platforms are available). Just add various “streams” to your dashboard based on keywords and watch news and your mentions in real time.

Feedly

Feedly lets you stay current on news in your industry and follow a sizable variety of alerts, blogs, and other sources of critical information in one manageable place.

BuzzSumo

BuzzSumo shows you which types of content and subjects are getting the most attention so you know who the key influencers working in your content area are. It also shows you what keywords your competitors are using with content on certain subjects and which social media platforms are working best for your topic areas.

FollowerWonk

FollowerWonk help you get followers on Twitter by searching Twitter bios for interests, keywords, locations and other criteria so you can find likely followers. You can also use the tool to compare and analyze follower demographics, both for your own followers and those of your competitors or influencers you’d like to imitate.

Klout

The Klout platform, one of the few influencer tools designed specifically for this purpose, uses an algorithm to assess how much influence each user has based on engagement, content, and overall impact across various social media platforms. Once you have your score you can use it to climb higher.

Majestic

Majestic is a great link checking and domain authority tool you can use to see who is linking to your site or competitor sites; use it to review links to influencer websites, list them, and then use your list as a link building road map.

Moz Open Site Explorer

Moz OSE lets you see the “domain authority” of your site or anyone else’s based on more than 40 predictive signals concerning search rank. Use OSE to track your website’s authority against competitors’ and other influencers’ sites over time, to find the best content and link building opportunities, and for focused link building.
